Ms Mary Chamberlain
Mary Chamberlain is currently Senior Manager, Curriculum Teaching and Learning Group, for the New Zealand Ministry of Education. Her team is responsible for the redevelopment of the New Zealand curriculum, professional development, and materials for schools, principal leadership and the national assessment strategy.
Mary has been closely involved with the development of New Zealand’s national assessment strategy and new national curricula at both primary and secondary school levels for the last seven years. She led the development of a range of national assessment tools including the national curriculum exemplars in all curriculum areas and the CD-ROM based Assessment Tools for Teaching and Learning (asTTle). She is currently leading New Zealand’s National Curriculum Project. Mary has been a classroom teacher, school principal and a regional adviser to schools.
