ArticlesThe right to feel safe: the rise of bullying in our schoolsResearch indicates that many young people do not feel safe at school. A 1997 Australian survey of over 25,000 students found that in the course of any one year as many as half of all school students experience painful and unjustified aggression from individuals or groups of students. Findings from the 2009 Australian Covert Bullying Study indicate that there has been a substantial increase in bullying in subsequent years, and cyberbullying has become a serious concern.
