The Western Sydney-Ningbo Partnership

A partnership between the University of Western Sydney, the New South Wales Department of Education and Communities, and the Ningbo Municipal Education Bureau, China, is working to strengthen engagement in and learning of Chinese language and culture among students and teachers in Western Sydney's primary and secondary schools. The partnership places graduates or experienced teachers from Ningbo, in Western Sydney schools where they help Australian teachers to develop and deliver Chinese language and culture programs.

MoneySmart Teaching: bringing financial literacy lessons to life in the classroom

MoneySmart Teaching is a comprehensive strategy to develop teacher capacity to confidently teach consumer and financial literacy within Phase 1 of the Australian Curriculum. MoneySmart Teaching will provide a range of free quality resources to help educators integrate consumer and financial education into the classroom. Among these resources are professional learning packages for primary and secondary schools, which provide teachers with self-contained integrated units of work linked to the Australian Curriculum across the disciplines of mathematics, science and English.

BRIDGE: linking Australian schools with schools in Indonesia

The partnership between Leongatha Primary School in Victoria and Pondok Labu 11 Primary School in Indonesia is one of 60 formed between the two countries under the BRIDGE program of Melbourne University's Asia Education Foundation. A great success, the program is featured in the Australian Government's recent white paper, Australia in the Asian Century, as an example of innovative learning practices.
