This project, undertaken by ATSE, explores options for developing metrics to measure Australian universities’ research engagement with private and public sector partners. This work is intended to ensure that research engagement is appropriately recognised and rewarded alongside research excellence, in line with the Government’s Industry Innovation and Competitiveness Agenda. It is hoped that such research engagement metrics will help to increase the return on the public investment in research in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) and humanities and social sciences (HASS) alike. Using the experiences of six middle and high school student teachers as they learn to teach science in diverse classrooms, Larkin explores how their work changes the way they think about students, society, schools, and science itself. The book offers a teacher education framework based on teaching for understanding and equity. It features engaging case studies of science teachers that are applicable to all teachers interested in teaching for social justice. It also unpacks the problems and challenges teachers face in developing the art and skill of teaching, and applies insights from conceptual change learning in science to science teacher learning. This report describes the results of a project researching issues faced by students with cognitive disability. The project investigated what students, their families and other key supporters such as teachers, disability, and child protection workers think about personal safety in and around school, together with their perspectives on what might make things better. The research was supplemented by an extensive analysis of relevant law and policy in this area. From publisher's description.

The Childhood Education and Care Survey collected information on topics including usual care arrangements (types of care, duration and cost); care arrangements used in the survey reference week (types of care, duration and cost); attendance at a preschool or preschool program (usually or in the survey reference week); need for additional formal care or preschool; and early childhood education and learning activities. The main aim of the survey was to provide estimates of care arrangements for children aged 0-12 years; attendance at educational institutions for children aged 0-12 years; informal learning activities for children aged 0-8 years; families' requirements for formal care or preschool; and education, income and working patterns of parents of children aged 0-12 years.
