New publicationsTeIE-Learning: The Challenge for the Third Millennium
Kluwer Academic Publishers,
June 2002
Many of the early issues in the field of telE-learning are now being addressed through professional and staff development routes, through innovative technological solutions, and through approaches and concepts that are better suited to particular educational contexts. TelE-Learning: The Challenge for the Third Millennium provides details of recent advances in this area. Issues covered include the position of online learning in the development of the information society, developments in virtual organisations, virtual institutes and virtual laboratories, and integrating collaborative learning and collective competencies in online learning practices. Information is provided on the creation and development of interactive and adaptive context-aware learning environments and e-learning portals. Roles that impact on online learning environments are explored, including case studies and models in teacher development and team work, team learning and team teaching. Rowman Education (formerly Scarecrow Education),
September 2003
As more teachers undertake action research projects, questions need to be raised about their value and validity. How can teachers ensure that their results are valid? Are teachers drawing conclusions supported by data? The aim of this book is to guide teachers through the process of developing questions, designing their methodology, and collecting data so that they can draw valid conclusions and report them accurately and fairly. This book provides an explanation of action research within a historical context. The reader is led through the development process of exploring and answering a research problem with four teachers' experiences in action research shared. A section on analysing and interpreting data is included. Exercises allow teachers to apply what they are learning in a step-by-step process. (Adapted from publisher's description).

Creating an Inclusive School, 2nd Edition
Association for Supervision and Curriculum Developments,
February 2005
Almost 30 years ago the USA passed legislation to ensure that all students with diabilities could receive a public education. Today many educators still do not understand this legislation or how to implement it. At the time the first edition of this book was written, discussions on inclusion provoked strong and differing opinions among educators. Since that time, research, experience, and case law have further clarified the rights and responsibilities of school personnel in regard to including students with disabilities with nondisabled peers in general education settings – to the maximum extent appropriate. They have also documented the benefits of inclusive education for students with and without disabilities. (Adapted from publishers description).

London School of Economics and Politics,
April 2005
The London School of Economics and Politics analysed results from a national, in-home, face-to-face survey of 1,511 young people aged 9–19 and a written questionnaire to 906 of their parents about Internet use within the home. These results are compiled in two reports, UK Children Go Online and Inequalities and the Digital Divide in Children and Young People's Internet Use. The findings of the report showed that a lack of Internet skills and experience among many UK parents is potentially harming their children's education and job prospects and could be placing them on the wrong side of a growing digital divide. London School of Economics and Politics,
April 2005
Considerable academic and policy attention has recently addressed the so-called 'digital divide' in the UK and elsewhere. However, very little research has addressed children and young people in relation to the digital divide. This report examines the extent and source of any inequalities in Internet access and use among 9–19-year-olds in the UK. It draws on data from the UK Children Go Online project.
