Project proposal summary
This project seeks to advance emotional literacy in the Calwell Cluster community through the mapping and auditing of existing values and analysis of the results. The mapping and auditing process will involve extensive consultation with school boards, parents and citizen organisations to ascertain the emotional literacy of the school community and articulate core values. The resulting material will inform professional development for schools, parent updates and form the basis of emotional literacy curriculum materials to be distributed throughout the cluster. The project seeks to enhance pride in community values, facilitate curriculum development and delivery, and provide life long skills for students.
Calwell High School has a relational policy with the rationale that as part of the Calwell cluster of schools they practise restoratively. Within the curriculum, values are explicitly taught along with the skills to strengthen relationships.
