Project proposal summary
This project is phase one of a three-year initiative to develop and embed values education in the policies and practices of the participating schools. As a cluster we aim to:
- raise awareness and increase dialogue about values education and the values pluralism of modern society;
- conduct Cluster Values Forum;
- complete a Values Audit at each school site;
- establish Values Education Teams at each school site;
- develop a Values Eduction Strategy( 2005–2008) for each school to ensure strategic planning for the project;
- begin to develop a site specific, developmental Values Education Framework for the effective teaching/learning of the values across year levels, the KLAs and through whole school activities and practices;
- motivate/encourage our school communities to live/celebrate life affirming values every day.
This project is about empowering our students, but in the first instance it is about leading the process of our whole school communities understanding and committing to values education. We plan to embed values so that we are teaching the values through the curriculum and the curriculum through the values.
Chapel Hill State School has a special webpage for values education with a value of the month and other values education related events and information conducted by the school.
